Exterior Impression
In terms of design, the Pure Base 500 fits seamlessly into the existing product portfolio. The body is made of steel and the front element is made of plastic. In order to make the plastic look more elegant, it has a brushed aluminium structure and is lined from the inside with an insulating mat for noise insulation. In addition, be quiet! has rounded or flattened the four outer edges of the front. This makes the Midi Tower look less bulky despite its width of 231 millimetres. The left and right sides of the front panel have been fitted with large mesh grids. These allow the pre-installed front fan to draw cool air into the interior.
Also in the lid be quiet! tries itself out anew. The lid of all predecessors was almost always completely closed. In combination with the restrictively designed air tunnels in the front, this led to higher temperatures. To counteract this, be quiet! has now implemented a replaceable top cover in the lid. The silent cover only has numerous small openings in the triangular design at the rear end and is otherwise covered with insulating material. If this is not sufficient for cooling, the magnetically attached cover can be easily removed and replaced with the included mesh element. Regardless of the color of the case, the frame of the mesh filter is always black. Under the cover there are fan holes for two fans (120 mm or 140 mm).
Finally, the I/O panel is located in the front area of the lid. It has two USB 3.0 ports, one each for headphones and microphone and a power switch. Friends of the reset switch unfortunately get nothing from the Pure Base 500. Fortunately, the I/O panel is connected to the body and not to the front element. This prevents the completely black I/O cables from accidentally being torn off.
Both side parts of the Pure Base 500 are made of steel and lined with an insulating mat on the inside. They are attached to the body using knurled screws, which remain on the side panel when disassembled. Finally, of course, the obligatory recessed grips in the side panels must not be missing. All in all the side panels look a bit wobbly. Here be quiet! has definitely saved material.
The back of this midi tower corresponds to the usual standard. The power supply is placed at the bottom and above it there are seven reusable PCI slot covers. In order to remove the heated air from the case, the manufacturer has equipped the Pure Base 500 with a second case fan on the back.
The tower stands on four solid plastic feet, which are covered with rubber strips to further reduce noise. Furthermore, the huge dust filter catches the eye. It consists of a fine-meshed fabric and can be removed for cleaning. This saves a lot of conversion work, for example when the housing is placed in a cabinet.
The exterior finish and varnishing are, as usual from be quiet!, on a good level and leave no room for criticism. There is also almost nothing to complain about when it comes to the choice and quality of materials for the desired price range. Only the side parts could have tolerated somewhat thicker material.

Inside, there’s space in the front to mount up to a 360mm radiator, as well as an additional set of fans, as long as you remove the 3.5-inch hard drive cage below. In the roof, the Pure Base 500 also supports a slim 240mm AIO, and in the rear up to a 140mm AIO.
GPU clearance measures at 369mm (14.5 inches), and the Pure Base 500 will support CPU towers up to 190mm (7.4 inches) tall as well. PSU compatibility is also strong at 258mm, as long as you don’t opt for any bottom-mounted fans.
Another important feature is the cable management bar in the front. This doubles as a way of hiding your main 24-pin and front I/O or fan cables without the need for panel cutouts or rubber grommets. This bar also acts as an SSD mounting tray, too. Remove the cable bar from the case, pop off the be quiet! logo plate, install your SSDs with the ports facing towards the hole, reinstall back into the chassis, attach your cables, and then place the logo plate back into position.
It’s nice to see this option in a budget chassis like this. That said, the downside is that, with the SSD cables going through that center hole, it means your bottom-most SSD will be facing in a different orientation than the top one, so the label will be reversed or flipped.

Behind the motherboard, there’s plenty of cable routing options as well, with velcro straps pre-installed. Additional straps can be found inside the included accessory box. There’s also a plethora of cable tie mounting locations and a removable SSD tray for the installation of a further two drives behind the motherboard.
The hard drive cage itself can also house an additional 2.5-inch drive in the top, and a further 2x 3.5-inch drives — although not at the same time. To install the drives, you slide them in, align with the pre-drilled holes, and secure using the included screws. Pleasingly, the holes are surrounded by rubber on either side to reduce vibrations. The cage can also be removed in its entirety, if you prefer better airflow or a thicker front radiator.

System Construction in the be quiet! Pure Base 500
Now we come to system installation. As hardware we use a AMD Ryzen 5 1400 on a MSI B350 PC Mate with 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT grey DDR4-2666. The cooling of the processor is done by the Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure. For the image output a GTX 1060 6GB by Gigabte AORUS is responsible. The power supply does the non-modular Berlin Pro RGB 650W with RGB fan. In order to enhance the cabling optically a little bit, single sleeved cable extensions from Phanteks.
The installation of the components went smoothly. There was enough space to work and the wiring was done quickly. Only with the 24-pin ATX cable we had some trouble passing it under the cable cover of the mainboard tray. The assembly was accelerated by the pre-installed spacers in ATX format and the centrally mounted stand-off, which holds the mainboard in place even without a screw. On the back side, the 25 mm space between the mainboard tray and the side wall offers enough storage space for laying the cables. All unused connectors could easily be hidden under the power supply cover.
The Pure Base 500 also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of hardware compatibility. With a maximum supported height of 190 mm for CPU cooler and support for almost 370 mm long graphics cards, there is no GPU or air cooling solution that doesn’t fit into this midi tower. Also friends of water cooling should be happy with the Pure Base. Because this can accommodate radiators up to 360 mm in the front and up to 240 mm in the lid.
As already mentioned above, the Pure Base 500 supports a maximum of seven data carriers. The 3.5″ devices are accommodated in the cage below the power supply cover and are fastened with four screws. For decoupling, the cage also has rubber decouplers on both sides. 2.5″ SSDs can either be mounted directly behind the mainboard on a steel frame or to the right of the mainboard. The plate required for this is virtually an HDD frame and cable management panel in one. Two SSDs can be screwed together from the rear and thus presented on the front. In order to hide the cables of the SSDs, the plate was provided with a cover under which the cables can be led to the rear.
The pre-installed fans have a frame width of 140 millimetres and belong to the Pure Wings 2 series. Both fans rotate at approx. 900 rpm and are connected to the mainboard via a 3-pin connector. At full speed, the fans move enough air and are easy to hear out of the system at the same time.
Finally, we come to the temperatures reached in the Pure Base 500. During the load test, Prime95 and FurMark were run for 15 minutes at a room temperature of 19 °C. The system was tested at a temperature of 19 °C, and the temperature of the base was very low. Due to the modular design of the lid section, the test was carried out in three different scenarios. Once the case fans were operated at full speed and once throttled to 7V. With throttled fans, the almost closed cover element was replaced with the mesh element.

In the be quiet! the components do not reach critical temperatures even with throttled fans. Depending on which hardware is to be installed, it might be worthwhile to install a second fan in the front and replace the silent cover in the lid with the mesh element. The latter affects the maximum CPU temperatures in particular. Here it is very nice that the manufacturer leaves the choice to the buyer whether “Silent” or “Airflow” is in the first place.

With the motherboard in, the power supply was next up. This attaches to a bracket, which then secures to the case via four thumbscrews. When using a modular PSU, install your cables to the power supply first, then attach the bracket, and slide it all into the case.
We then installed the cables, which unlike our recent review of the Lian Li Lancool II, went without a hitch; no fans needed to be removed and there was plenty of clearance to install the CPU power. When it comes to the 24-pin ATX power, it’s best to remove the cable/SSD bar before installing it.
After that, we installed our SSD onto the bar and resecured the bar into position. When it comes to attaching the cables for your SSD, it’s best to lay the case down on its side to get easier access — and vision — to the SSD ports.

Согласно списку спецификаций Be Quiet Pure Base 500DX, в этом случае есть место для установки до пяти 2,5-дюймовых накопителей, а также двух 3,5-дюймовых накопителей с одним перекрывающимся отсеком между двумя типами. Два 3,5-дюймовых диска устанавливаются в нижней части корпуса в небольшой съемный отсек для жестких дисков. Что касается 2,5-дюймовых накопителей, два из них можно установить непосредственно за монтажным лотком материнской платы, а еще два можно установить на передней части корпуса. Пятое 2,5-дюймовое крепление находится внутри отсека для жестких дисков и занимает одно из мест для крепления 3,5-дюймовых дисков.
Все крепления для хранения в этом случае требуют, чтобы вы привинтили диски на место. Было бы удобнее иметь систему крепления без инструментов, но я не вижу этого так часто, как раньше, на чемоданах в наши дни. Меньшее количество деталей означает меньшую сложность в изготовлении и, предположительно, более низкую стоимость, и я подозреваю, что покупатель, встраивающийся в такой корпус, не часто меняет местами диски.

To remove the tempered glass window, simply undo the four thumb screws located in each corner and lift the window off. The steel door on the right side is secured via two retainable thumb screws.
Similar to the front panel, right door is covered with sound-deadening material to help reduce any noise produced through vibrations. Note: This does reduce the amount of space you have for cable management.
Conclusion of the be quiet! Pure Base 500 Review
With the Pure Base 500, be quiet! has achieved a very good throw. For a price of € 74.90 * for the black version without side window the tower offers a lot of features. Inside there is a lot of space for hardware and cables, the workmanship is almost everywhere on a good level and the tower comes ex works with insulation and two good pre-installed case fans. In addition, the manufacturer finally leaves the choice between “Silent” and “Airflow” to the buyer with the Pure Base through the modular cover. Other be quiet! cases were so strongly optimized for noise minimization that the airflow and the temperatures suffered measurably.
But the Pure Base 500 doesn’t come without a flaw. We found the material of the side panels to be relatively thin. In addition, the mesh filter for the lid is always black, regardless of the housing color. This could possibly be an optical dealbreaker for some fans of the grey or white colour. But if you don’t mind these points, the Pure Base 500 is a solid midi tower that doesn’t have to hide from the competition.

Next, we installed the GPU and tidied up the rear cables. For our PCIe power, we opted to run the cables through one of the cutouts in the PSU cover that’s there for the front I/O connectors. Alternatively, you can run them directly through that PSU cover cutout to the right, near the hard drive cage — which you can remove to allow for bigger radiators — or behind the cable/SSD bar instead.
As for the space behind the motherboard, the Pure Base 500 comes with three velcro straps installed as standard for the 24-pin/fan cables. We opted to install an additional one at the bottom as well. Then we tidied the rest up by taking advantage of the empty space we’d created by removing the 3.5-inch hard drive cage. If we left that part installed, it would be more difficult to hide these cables. You’d have to rely on a lot more cable ties, as you’re already compromised for rear panel space, due to the additional sound-dampening material.

Собранную в корпусе Pure Base 500 White игровую систему мы протестировали в реальной работе. Оценивалась температура компонентов при нагрузке и уровень шума, создаваемый вентиляторами. В качестве стресс-нагрузки запускались такие программы, как Prime95 (для процессора), MSI Combustor (для видеокарты) и CrystalDiskMark (для накопителя). Температуры компонентов фиксировались программным методом, а уровень шума замерялся с помощью шумомера.
Все компоненты системы, включая видеокарту, имели допустимые для постоянной эксплуатации пиковые температуры.
В вопросе акустического комфорта корпус Pure Base 500 White приятно удивил, поскольку даже при полной нагрузке всех компонентов уровень шума не превысил значение 38 дБА.
Внутреннее устройство be quiet! PURE BASE 500
Фронтальная панель удерживается несколькими защёлками и легко снимается руками. Для этого надо схватить её за нижний край и потянуть наверх. Внутри, на открытой части корпуса находятся посадочные места для вентиляторов. Здесь можно уместить две 140-мм вертушки или три 120-миллиметровых. Кстати, в нижней части корпуса, в корзине для 3,5-дюймовых жёстких дисков, предусмотрено овальной вентиляционное отверстие. Оно пригодится, если внизу будет установлен вентилятор. И кстати, внутренняя часть съёмной фронтальной панели также обложена «шумкой».

Правая дверца, которая будет глухой для всех моделей be quiet! PURE BASE 500, удерживается на двух винтах, которые можно открутить без помощи отвёртки. Кстати, до конца эти винтики не выкручиваются – спасибо правильным шайбам. Поэтому потерять их будет крайне проблематично. Внутренняя сторона дверцы также оклеена «шумкой», а на правой внутренней части корпуса уже заботливо установлены липучки для кабелей блоков питания.

На этой стороне корпуса можно разместить два 2,5-дюймовых SSD-накопителя. Они крепятся на отдельной планке, которая находится напротив материнской платы. Ну а благодаря большому количеству отверстий PURE BASE 500, к ним можно легко подвести все нужные кабели. Что касается корзины HDD, то она легко вынимается руками, и вмещает два накопителя размером 3,5 или 2,5 дюйма. Около посадочных мест для хардов есть резиновые прокладки, которые минимизируют создаваемую ими вибрацию.
Теперь переходим к самому интересному, левой части системного блока. Не смотря на габариты Midi-Tower, простора для установки матплаты и крупной системы охлаждения здесь достаточно. Максимальная допустимая высота кулера процессора составляет 190 мм, а максимальная длина видеокарты – 369 мм. Кстати, справа от материнской платы есть два места для установки 2,5-дюймовых накопителей. Причём установить их можно так, чтобы все провода выходили на правую часть корпуса, и была не видны пользователю. Вот это – очень приятное и эстетически красивое решение.

Единственным минусом внутреннего мира be quiet! PURE BASE 500 можно назвать кожух, который разделяет блок питания и материнскую плату. Он, безусловно красив и нужные отверстия находятся на своих местах. Вот только этот кожух является частью корпуса и демонтировать его не получится. С одной стороны – оно и не нужно, ведь матплата формата ATX прекрасно уместится внутри PURE BASE 500. Но, с другой стороны — хочется большей свободы для творчества.

На задней панели, на её внутренней стороне, находятся быстросъёмные металлические панели, закрывающие слоты PCI. Все они держатся на винтах, поэтому их можно как демонтировать, так и вернуть на место. В верхней части находятся вентиляционные отверстия для вентилятора диаметром 120 или 140 мм.
Отдельно стоит написать о поддержки водяной системы охлаждения. be quiet! PURE BASE 500 позволяет установить три радиатора СВО. На фронтальной панели можно разместить радиатор длиной до 360 мм. Для этого понадобится сдвинуть в сторону корзину HDD, при этом место для блока питания сократится с 258 мм до 225 мм. На верхней панели системника можно разместить радиатор СВО длиной до 240 мм, а на задней панели – небольшой радиатор на 120 или 140 мм. Проще говоря, к установке водянки be quiet! PURE BASE 500 готов.
Ну а если вы не хотите связываться с СВО и обойтись классическим воздушным охлаждением, то у be quiet! PURE BASE 500 есть много возможностей для установки как 120-мм, так и 140-мм вертушек. Чтобы не перечислять все возможности корпуса, мы ограничимся наглядным скриншотом из инструкции. И доабавим, что два 140-мм вентилятора уже предустановлены внутри корпуса. На фронтальной и задней панелях.
Сборка системы в be quiet! PURE BASE 500 не вызовет неудобств. Корпус продуман очень хорошо и тщательно. Острых металлических кромок внутри корпуса нет. Поэтому за сохранность пальцев или проводов можно не переживать. Со скрытой протяжкой кабелей проблем не будет. К этом be quiet! PURE BASE 500 уже подготовлен.
Interior Impression
In the interior of the Pure Base 500, the manufacturer relies on a contemporary design and divides the interior by a cover in two areas. The upper room offers a lot of space for the mainboard, long graphics cards and large CPU coolers. The pre-mounted fan in the front is located at the same level as the first graphics card and can supply it with cool air without disturbing factors (such as a hard disk cage). The power supply cover and the mainboard tray have numerous openings through which the cables can be routed from the rear to the front in order to minimize the interference caused by power supply cables. The manufacturer has also thought about a cut-out in the mainboard tray for the backplate of a CPU cooler.
The power supply cover covers the entire lower area and thus hides the power supply, all connection cables and the hard disk cage. However, in order to ensure compatibility with large radiators in the front, a part of the front panel has been removed. In addition, fan openings (also in triangular design) were cut into the front panel. This allows the power supply to be mounted upside down if necessary.
Let’s now turn to the back of the mainboard tray. Besides a lot of space there are several fixing points for cable ties. In combination with the cable openings and the reusable Velcro strips, it should be very easy and clean to wire the system. In the lower right area, the power supply later rests on four foam rubber strips.
To the left of the power supply is an HDD cage for two 3.5″ hard drives. Mounting is decoupled using four screws. If the cage is not needed, it can easily be removed by removing two knurled screws. But of course the Pure Base 500 also supports other data carriers. A total of five possibilities are available to install 2.5″ SSDs. In addition, the case has a steel frame behind the mainboard tray and a large element to the left of the mainboard tray. Both elements are fastened with knurled screws. The SSDs are then locked in place using conventional screws.

Be quiet! ships two top dust filters in the box to utilize depending on your setup. You can either opt for the complete mesh variant — ideal for those installing 2x140mm fans in the roof, or instead go for the more solid version with the triangular cut design in the rear if noise dampening is more of a concern.
Both are constructed from a flexible plastic, and fit into position easily thanks to magnetic seals running along the inside edge of each filter.

Для сборки системы в be quiet! Pure Base 500 Window не нужно обладать какими-то особыми знаниями и навыками, всё реализовано просто и доступно. Инструкция по сборке содержит разделы на русском языке и в целом изложена очень подробно. SSD в формате 2,5 дюйма мы закрепили на съёмной панельке сзади материнской платы.
Жёсткий диск был установлен в верхнем отсеке металлической съёмной корзины.
Кстати, жёсткий диск не касается непосредственно металла корзины, так как закрепляется через мягкие силиконовые вставки и винты с втулками.
Для закрепления блока питания в корпусе используется съёмная рамка, к которой он и прикручивается.
Отметим, что установка любого компонента в корпус, включая материнскую плату с предустановленным на неё суперкулером, удобна, а зазоров от панелей корпуса до платы более чем достаточно, чтобы подключать или отключать от неё кабели.
В be quiet! Pure Base 500 Window предусмотрена развитая система кабель-менеджмента, включающая в себя грамотно размещённые отверстия для прохождения кабелей, петли и стяжки. Благодаря этому, даже при незначительных затратах времени можно собрать вполне аккуратную систему с открытой и не перегруженной кабелями рабочей зоной.
Расстояние от поддона материнской платы до боковой стенки составляет 26 мм. Этого вполне хватит чтобы уложить все кабели.
Собранный и закрытый be quiet! Pure Base 500 Window в раскраске Metallic Gray выглядит очень строго. Он хорошо впишется в интерьер военных штабов и спецслужб, а вот для домашней обстановки предпочтительнее белый или классический чёрный вариант корпуса.
Добавим, что никакой подсветки в be quiet! Pure Base 500 Window нет, но через прозрачное боковое стекло будет видна подсветка самих комплектующих, которой в последнее время более чем достаточно.
Заключение
Корпус be quiet! Pure Base 500 White еще до начала продаж удивил общественность доступной ценой, которая по информации производителя начинается от 5500 рублей. И здесь невольно можно было бы ожидать чего-то такого, на чем сэкономили. Но как показал наш опыт знакомства с Pure Base 500 в белом цвете, в этом корпусе все сделано в лучших традициях компании be quiet!.
Толстый металл с качественной окраской, продуманная конструкция, отличная шумоизоляция, удобный кабель-менеджмент, достаточные габариты для установки массивных видеокарт и воздушных процессорных кулеров — все это можно смело утверждать, имея в виду be quiet! Можно сказать, что у рассмотренного в данном обзоре кейса практически нет недостатков. Но, будучи новинкой осени 2019 года, он не спешит поступать в продажу в российскую розницу. Поэтому ждем и надеемся на, пожалуй, один из наиболее интересных и качественных корпусов для сборки экономных игровых ПК нашего времени.
